The History of Song Remixes: Zombie Nation

We all know the techno hit Zombie Nation from laser tag, bowling and basketball games, but we don’t know where or who it comes from.

One of the biggest misconceptions that people have about this song is that it is titled Zombie Nation. The real title of the track is Kernkraft 400, or “Nuclear Energy 400″ in English. “Zombie Nation” is an electro project by Germany’s Florian Senfter. His first five track EP from 1999 was when Kerkraft 400 came into play.

The catch with Kernkraft 400 is that it isn’t actually an original song. The track is actually a remix from the video game “Lazy Jones” on the computer system Commodore 64 — which was composed by David Whittaker in 1984.

You can listen to an excerpt of the Lazy Jones sound track called Stardust:

And compare that to Zombie Nation’s Kernkraft 400 here:

Zombie Nation still tours to this day. He is also known as John Starlight or Splank.
